$15 for Illinois Future

We are advocating for the passage of the ‘Fight For 15’ Bill (HB 198) that would raise wages for the 40% of working people (2.3 million workers) in Illinois that are paid less $15, including 46% of women, 48% of African-Americans, and 61% of Latinos. Raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour would provide 2.3 billion dollars per year in state and local revenue without raising taxes. IL taxpayers are already paying for the price for the low-wage economy. Taxpayers shell out $5 billion a year in public assistance for underpaid workers, essentially providing a subsidy for profitable multi-national corporations.

By enacting HB 198, the Land of Lincoln can claim its historic place among the ranks of leaders, rather than laggards, by joining states like California and New York that have already passed a $15 minimum wage. Show your support by adding your name below and we’ll deliver it to the legislature!
